1. How to Use Essential Oils in an Oil Warmer
- Add Water: Fill the dish of the oil warmer with water, usually about 3/4th full. This helps to diffuse the essential oils more gently and prevents them from burning.
- Add Essential Oil: Add 3-5 drops of your chosen essential oil blend to the water. Adjust the amount based on the strength of the scent you prefer.
- Heat the Oil Warmer: If you have a candle warmer, place a small tea light candle beneath the dish. For an electric warmer, simply turn it on. The warmth will help disperse the scent into the air.
- Enjoy the Aroma: Allow a few minutes for the aroma to spread throughout the room. You can add more drops and/or water as needed to refresh the scent.
*Note: Always monitor the water level to avoid drying out the oils, and never leave an oil warmer unattended while in use.
2. Essential oil dilution for use with a carrier oil
Essential oils are strong and must be diluted for safe use. Whichever neutral carrier oil you choose, the essential oil content should only account for 0.5% to 2% of the total blend. This equates to 3 to 12 drops per ounce of finished product!
